Our Texas dealer list runs to 1,155 franchise stores. That is not a marketing number — it is why a car in Texas gets seen by more real buyers than a car almost anywhere else we operate.
Most of what you read about selling a car is written as though every market is the same. Texas is not, for one concrete reason: our dealer network is deeper here than anywhere outside California.
1,155 franchise stores across the state, concentrated where you would expect:
| Metro | Franchise dealers |
|---|---|
| Houston (Harris County) | 102 |
| Dallas–Fort Worth (Tarrant, Dallas, Collin, Denton) | ~180 |
| San Antonio (Bexar County) | 49 |
| Austin (Travis) | 27 |
| El Paso | 29 |
Density is competition. In a thin market one buyer makes an offer and you take it or leave it. In Texas there are genuinely several stores that want the same car, and the gap between the best bid and the third-best is usually larger than anything negotiation produces.
Texas does not salt its roads the way the north does. Your car's underbody — frame, rockers, brake and fuel lines — stays clean in a way a Chicago or Detroit car never does.
That is the single biggest variable a buyer in a salt state prices. Texas cars get bought and shipped north routinely for exactly that reason, which means the best offer on your car is not always the nearest one.
We put cars in front of out-of-state dealers with the transport cost disclosed rather than quietly netted out of your number. Geography is a cost to subtract, not a reason to say no.
Texas is the strongest truck market in the country. A full-size pickup that would sit on a coastal lot moves quickly here, and configuration moves the number more than the odometer does.
See the F-150 and Silverado 1500 guides for detail.
If the car is in Texas but you are not, see selling a car in a different state to you.
Inspection and registration requirements have changed in recent years and vary by county and vehicle type. Confirm the current position with the Texas DMV or DPS rather than relying on older guidance — selling to a licensed dealer generally avoids the question.
Generally yes. It is the strongest truck market in the country, and configuration — cab, trim, drivetrain — moves the number more than mileage does.
Often. There is no road salt here, so the underbody stays clean, and that is the biggest single variable for a buyer in a northern state. We disclose transport cost rather than deducting it quietly.
Our Texas list runs to 1,155 franchise stores, concentrated in Houston, DFW and San Antonio. Density means real competition between bidders rather than one take-it-or-leave-it offer.
Our value check takes a VIN, mileage, condition and ZIP, prices against live listings near you and subtracts what a dealer has to make. No email or account.
Lost the title? That is a separate, cheap and usually quick fix — the Texas replacement title process.
